Farah Lawal is an actress, poet, and playwright based in Washington, D.C.  Farah is a founding member of the theatre company, The Saartjie Project, whose work includes the original plays, Four Women and Deconstructing the Myth of the Booty, a show that toured various cities in the U.S.  Farah's recent credits include Courage: A Political Theatre Revival (dog & pony dc), Native Son (American Century Theater), So Do You Love Me Yet? (a one-woman show that appeared in the Capital Fringe Festival), and 500 Clown and the Elephant Deal (University of Maryland).  Farah has also appeared in a couple of independent films and is looking to expand her on-camera experience.

Farah's poetry has been published in Liberated Muse Volume 1: How I Freed My Soul.  Farah's work has been featured in various plays, spoken word events, conferences, and performance workshops. You can read Farah's poetry on her blog, Pearls from Pain.
Farah will be directing and performing in The Saartjie Project's next production of Four Women in the D.C. Black Theatre Festival on June 24th!
